Things I’ve learned from being Chronically Ill

Things I’ve learned from being Chronically Ill:

  1. Vanity is expensive
  2. Holding grudges is a waste of energy
  3. Forgive yourself
  4. Move on
  5. Self pity is ok once in a while
  6. Acknowledge when you’re depressed
  7. Chalk it up to hormones
  8. Acceptance is the best pain killer
  9. Accept help but don’t expect help
  10. Be a teacher
  11. Forgive others
  12. Let people help the way they want to help, not the way you wish they would help.
  13. Enjoy the sensuous in life: food, wine, sex and nature
  14. Empathy is not the same as sympathy.
  15. Don’t waste your limited energy on things or people you don’t really care about.
  16. Prioritize
  17. Don’t take yourself too seriously
  18. Moderation is key
  19. Push yourself, but for the right reasons (not because you’re embarrassed of your disability or because you’re in denial.)
  20. Life is wonderful. Have fun!
